Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza Overview

The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza was a runaway success and even close to two years later there is a waiting period on multiple variants of the compact SUV. It isn’t hard to understand why the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza was an instant hit. After all, it looked like a proper SUV, it had a great set of features, it offered good space and a decent powertrain and most of all it was a Maruti. However, the fact that the Vitara Brezza has been able to sustain the momentum makes it clear that the vehicle is more than just a hype. Ever since it got on to the top of the compact SUV segment, no other vehicle in India has come close to challenging it. This made us wonder that while the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is undoubtedly the best-selling vehicle in its segment, is it really the best compact SUV out there? Since driving a car for a couple of days wouldn’t have given us answers we kept one with us as a long-termer and two months and more than 2,000 km later, we have a definitive answer. Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza Design

The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza at its time of launch had to go primarily against the Ford EcoSport, which had started the compact SUV segment. The Vitara Brezza at the time of its launch was also the only compact SUV to have the boxy design one associates with SUVs. The wide chrome slat on the front grille and the slim grille itself lend the Brezza with a bold stance. The sleek headlamps with LED DRLs add a dash of premium flavour to the overall design. The side angle too is impressive on the Vitara Brezza and when seen with a dual-tone roof, the Brezza can at times resemble a baby Range Rover Evoque a bit. Our car has comes with graphics from Maruti’s I Create personalisation programme and hence stands out a bit more from the crowd of Brezzas on the road. You can opt for numerous exterior and interior options through this programme to make your ride stand out.

Overall, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is an impressive vehicle to look at and looks like a proper SUV with rugged character. Unlike some of the newer cars such as the Tata Nexon and Honda WR-V, the Vitara Brezza wears a slightly more conservative design and that seems to be its strength. While young buyers are more open to trying out new designs, the Brezza hits the right chord with buyers across a wide age range. Also, the Vitara Brezza’s design is one that will age well and when you put all these aspects together, it’s easy to understand why so many people prefer to put their money on the Brezza.

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza Cabin

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza competes under the Compact SUV segment, and rightfully justifies its placement with a sub 4-metre body. It has a raised stance, muscular square wheel arches, signature Bull Horn LED lights, and projector headlights, all making it a good looking SUV. To enhance the experience, one can opt for Maruti’s iCreate customization scheme that can add personalized bit to the car. We liked our dual-colored Blue Brezza with white roof and body graphics.Inside the cabin is an all-black theme with a touch of aluminum brushing throughout the design, including infotainment system enclosure. It’s a large 5-seater cabin with ample space for 5 adults and enough utilities to keep your knick-knacks in. The boot space is also decent with 350-litre squarish design. The rear seats can be folded flat in a 60:40 configuration.

In terms of equipment, our fully loaded ZDi+ variants gets automatic headlights and wipers, a touchscreen infotainment system with reverse parking camera display, Apple CarPlay and BlueTooth connectivity, Cruise control, and push button start with keyless entry. Safety wise, the car gets dual airbags, ABS with EBD and Suzuki TECT chassis.Overall, it’s like being inside any other new-age Maruti Suzuki, but with much more space and high-set seating to give you a better overall view outside.

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza Performance

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is powered by a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine good to deliver 66kW of maximum power at 4000rpm. Being a diesel engine, low end torque is a healthy 200Nm that kicks in at 1750rpm. The diesel engine is paired to a 5-speed automatic transmission and Maruti Suzuki claims 24.3kmpl fuel efficiency figures for the Brezza. Brezza is still a new product in Maruti Suzuki’s line up and is therefore available with a diesel engine only. There are rumours that Maruti Suzuki will also launch petrol Brezza in India in due course of time. The diesel Brezza is available with a manual transmission only although this engine is available in Dzire with an AMT as well.

Out right acceleration of the Brezza is very good. The 90PS engine performs well in this regard. The Vitara Brezza has a top speed of over 170 km/h.In-gear acceleration of the Brezza is not the best, especially when the engine is spinning under 2000rpm – this is due to the turbo lag.The Vitara Brezza gets a 5-speed manual transmission. The Vitara Brezza has a maximum power output of 90PS.The Vitara Brezza has a maximum torque output of 200Nm.NVH or noise, vibration, harshness levels of the Brezza are good but the Ecosport fares better in this regard

The Brezza comes powered by a 1.3-litre diesel engine found in other Maruti cars as well. In the Brezza’s case, it puts out 90PS of maximum power and 200Nm of maximum torque (and hence the name DDiS200). It is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Maruti Suzuki is not offering a petrol engine on the Brezza as of now (which the EcoSport offers) or an automatic transmission (the EcoSport has a petrol A/T, the TUV3OO has a diesel A/T). The engine is good for highway usage but turbo lag becomes evident when driving in the city. The engine is very efficient though, with Maruti Suzuki claiming 24.3kmpl fuel efficiency. In real world driving conditions, the Brezza can return anywhere around 15kmpl in city and around 18-10 kmpl on highways under sedate driving. Even if you’re relentless, the engine should still be able to deliver over 10-12kmpl.

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza Driving

The Brezza is an all-new product based on an all-new platform and shares a lot in common with some of the other Maruti models but that\’s only on the inside. On the outside, this is a new SUV that looks smart and very urban. Overall length is 3995mm that makes it a sub-4m vehicle. Brezza is also a very wide vehicle with the overall width measuring 1790mm. Vitara Brezza’s wheelbase measures 2500mm. Suspension setup includes McPherson struts with coil spring at the front and torsion beam with coil spring at the rear. The Brezza comes with a suspension set up that is on the firmer side to aid high speed stability. But this does take a toll on everyday driving where sharp undulations are easily felt, especially at the rear. As speeds rise, the comfort factor does increase though. Brezza rides on large 16” wheels. View offers on Maruti Cars from Maruti dealers in Hyderabad at Autozhop
